In the STEP Young study, which was randomized, double‑blind and placebo‑controlled, 165 children aged 6 to 12 participated. The participants received weekly subcutaneous injections of either semaglutide – the active ingredient in Novo Nordisk’s weight‑loss drug Wegovy – or placebo, in both cases combined with dietary counselling and increased physical activity.
